It’s time to pack our backpacks and go to Thailand. Andy goes for one more swim, before we embark our 11 am water taxi to sadly leave the beautiful Pulau Perhentian Island. Our small boat delivers us to a 32-passenger boat that takes us to Kuala Besut jetty where we were, just four days ago.
Andy is always figuring out what’s next and I so appreciate all the work he does in planning this trip. While we wait at the Kuala Besut bus station for our 2 pm bus to Kota Bharu, Malaysia we also find a bus to take us to Butterworth, but when we try to get tickets, there are none available until August 28, seven days from now. Many people are traveling because schools are on break. It isn’t until we get to our hostel in Kota Bharu, that we find out there is Bus 29 to Thailand, and it leaves, tomorrow. We’ll take it. It’s a different border crossing but we’ll be on our way for our next adventure.
Traveling takes a lot of trusts. You have to trust the person you’re traveling with. You have to trust yourself, your gut-feeling. You have to trust your sense of direction. You have to trust strangers and you have to trust what they are telling you. I don’t really talk about this with Andy but I’m feeling nervous, a little scared. In Malaysia, there is some English spoken. In Thailand, will there be any? The border crossing in Rantau Panjang doesn’t even have a good review in our guidebook.
Trust, just trust and pray.
Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
