We’re up at 6:30 am, pack and walk to the White Rose for omelets and smoothies. A great memory for our short time in Battambang, Cambodia. Now we take a tuk-tuk to the bus station for our 8:30 bus ride to Sihanoukville. The double-decker bus ride is a five-hour journey but the air conditioning works and there is a TV. Too bad they only had it play cheesy music videos. Our bus takes us to the city but we’re going to the beach area. Thirteen of us get into a mini-van for another four hours. We get to Sihanoukville at 6:00 pm. We find a hotel, the Sontepheap Guest House for $8 a night. Our room is clean, has no air conditioning but a working ceiling fan, a bathroom with hot water and a television. Perfect!
Even though we’re just sitting, sometimes in uncomfortable positions, looking out the window, travel days are tiring. It’s good to be at our final destination and rest a while. We walk around a bit. book a snorkeling trip for tomorrow, visit an internet café to email a message, and let others know where we are and all is well. Dinner was at the Apollos restaurant. One road from the beach. Of course, we’re going to order fish. BBQ tuna with a baked potato and shark amok for Andy. We did feel a little uncomfortable ordering shark but at the same time knew we couldn’t have it anywhere else. I tried his amok and it was delicious, not spicy. I wish it was my order. We need to come back here tomorrow night!
